Preventative dentistry
The best way to prevent gum disease (gingivitis) and tooth decay is by regular oral hygiene.
Your smile depends on simple dental care habits: brushing and flossing. Consider using medium-bristled toothbrush, with short but wide head and a flexible neck in order to clean the plaque from all tooth surfaces. Therefore remember to brush the inside and chewing surfaces of your teeth, as well as your tongue. Avoid vigorous or hard scrubbing, which can irritate your gums.
The most effective way of brushing is in a circular motion from the gums towards teeth. Horizontal and vertical scrubbing is not advisable because it leads to recession (withdrawal) of the gums.
Interdental toothbrush, a special type of toothbrush is used for cleaning of the interdental spaces. Angular toothbrush is ideal for people with bridges, crowns and implants. Super soft toothbrush is particularly suitable after surgical and periodontal interventions, and for patients undergoing radiotherapy.
Different mouthwash solutions (CURASEPT, CORSODYL) can be used in support of oral hygiene, however they are best used following advice of the dental practicioner.
Remember, early detection and treatment of problems with your gums, teeth and mouth can help ensure a lifetime of good oral health.
